Brock Lassiter has it all: good looks, good health, and the best job in the world. As a defenseman for the Las Vegas Sidewinders hockey team, he’s the luckiest bastard on earth. If only he could stop getting in trouble. One more screw-up and the team won’t renew his contract. He needs to clean up his act, but he’s not interested in a ball and chain—even if it comes in the form of the woman he’s been fantasizing about for years.
Hollywood starlet Ashleigh Hunter is living the dream with a role on one of the hottest shows on television. Her life would be complete if only she could adopt the sweet orphan girl she’s fallen in love with, but a single 25-year-old woman who spends the majority of her time in the spotlight may not be able to get custody.
When Brock and Ashleigh find themselves accidentally married, they balk. There’s no denying the chemistry between them, but a marriage of convenience? Who does that anymore? Apparently, they do—and it’s not what either of them are expecting.
**Brock is a STANDALONE hockey romance, part of the Sidewinders Series*

Hey, babe.
I’m writing to you on the plane, on the way to New York. I’m not great with the mushy stuff, especially if I have to write it, but I wanted you to see this as soon as you woke up. I read some poetry recently, thinking maybe it would inspire me to say something really romantic, and nothing did except…Lord Byron’s “She Walks In Beauty” spoke to me because you’re the most beautiful girl in the world:
“And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes”
I wish I could write stuff that beautiful, but I’m no poet, just a hockey player whose whole life got turned upside down the day you came into it. Hey, stop laughing—isn’t a guy allowed to be in love with his wife, his kids and his life? Yeah, I know, a big tough hockey player should hide all that, but whatever. I’ll shout it from the rooftops. That’s how happy you make me.
I hate that I’m not with you on our first Valentine’s Day together, especially with our little boy due in just a few weeks. We’ve come so far in such a short time—a year ago we hadn’t even met yet—but I wouldn’t change a thing. Not our drunk eloping, not adopting Bella and definitely not getting pregnant right away. I’m so excited to meet our son, to watch you hold him in your arms, feed him, share the most beautiful memories I can even imagine with me.
So even though I’m on the opposite side of the country on the most romantic day of the year, you’re always close to me because you live in my heart, my soul, my entire being. Day, night, dark or light, you’re my everything…
“The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent…”

Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she’s called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She’s never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she’d probably choose the west coast.
A somewhat typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max), Kat can usually be found scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) – traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible.
Kat’s been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article–a review of a rock concert–for $10 in 1985. Since then she’s been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles.
As you can guess from her Las Vegas Sidewinders series, Kat loves hockey and occasionally writes articles about her favorite team, the Florida Panthers. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There’s something enticing about hockey players and romance…
